Management Yong-Jian Geng in Stem Cell too...

Yong-Jian Geng, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Geng is a Director of the Heart Failure Research Lab at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas. Dr. Geng’s areas of expertise include: cardiovascular gene expression, apoptosis, lipoprotein metabolism, transgenic mice, gene and cell therapy, and tissue engineering.

In addition to his appointment to the Texas Heart Institute, Dr. Geng is also director of the Center for Cardiovascular Biology and Atherosclerosis Research at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Medicine. His research program focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying the most common cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and cardiomyopathy or chronic heart failure. Dr. Geng is a part of a team of scientists, led by James T. Willerson, M.D, President-elect Texas Heart Institute and former Editor and Chief of Circulation, which has demonstrated that heart stem cells transplanted into animals can develop into new cardiovascular tissue.
