Any comparison between WWII and Iraq does a serious disservice to the victims, heros and patriots of that era. In fact, any comparison is rather obscene.

Some reference 9/11 as justification for our unprovoked strike on Iraq, but the logic escapes me. There is no connection between Iraq and 9/11. Iraq was a "pre-emptive" strike base largely on false or misleading premises. Iraq has united much of the world against us. Iraq has enraged anti-American sentiment in the Mideast, strengthing the militants cause among people of the Mideast. Iraq has taken the lives of nearly 1000 of our soldiers and cost us billions. We were struck on 9/11 and 3000 innocent people died, so we struck Iraq, an uninvolved nation, killing many thousand innocent people there. What kind of justice is that?

We now must occupy Iraq to control the chaos we've created. The greatest risk in Iraq is that we will wind up with a theocratic government worse than the one we overthrew. Sarals is right as you have articulated. Iraq is an illegal and immoral war.

In a democracy, government is accountable to the people they serve. The Bush regime must be held accountable for the Iraq situation.
