Hot there!? At times it will be over a hundred for 2 weeks at a time here. It always cools into the 50s at night though. Since I like hot weather it is paradise to me. You, however, might like the Penninsula or East Bay better ... much more moderate temps, but very expensive and very congested. And in Nor Cal one can live outside 9-10 months per year. No summer rain storms, no tornadoes, no snow, no freezing weather.
