In NY you cannot buy beer before noon on Sundays.

A friend of mine went into Costco on a Sunday morning and was checking out at 11:30AM. She had some beer in her cart and the cashier checked it out with no problem.

As she was leaving the store the security guard checked her cart and saw the beer and called for more security at the front of the store. She was surrounded by about 4 security guards and was not allowed to leave the store. The other people watching had no idea why she was stopped, just that she was stopped. She wanted to leave the beer there and bring the rest of her stuff to the car but they would not let her leave the store.

IMO.....SHE DID NOTHING WRONG! The cashier was the one who rang up the beer before noon. I would have called the police and said that I was being held hostage in the store!

She wrote a letter to Costco and received an apology and was told that everything was on videotape and that they would be using the video tape for training purposes in the future so that something like that wouldn't happen again.

Total BS.
