Why is the USA setting up military control centers in neighboring Colombia?
The author is right the USA was building this high-tech military base because they already had their eye on the huge oil reserves in Iraq before 9/11. Please see reference.
Look at what happened in the Middle East. Look at the increase in friction between Venezuela and Colombia since Chavez has been in power. Colombia’s government is already closely collaborating with the US government in their invented war on drugs ... and they conjointly spray chemicals on their own people, killing them slowly while lying through their teeth about the real reason for Plan Colombia: the US takeover of Colombian resources (such as oil), including the very lucrative coca and opium plantations in which future US “investors” could use slave-like-labor with no questions asked.

Why is the USA setting up military control centers in neighboring Colombia?

VHeadline.com commentarist Oscar Heck writes: In early 2001, I spent several months ill in bed. During this time, I had ample time to spend on the internet investigating potential jobs abroad, especially in countries where I had had experience in the past, particularly of interest to me: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and any country in and around the Arabian Peninsula.
I came across many job/contract offers for work in the construction of a elaborate high-tech US military operations-base in the middle-east. This is the command-center which was used by the USA in its recent invasion of Iraq ... and I believe it is in Qatar.
This massive recruitment effort for contractors in the field of security, military training, spy-technology, weapons expertise, etc. was being done before September 11, 2001 ... and was well on its way by then.
Since I have some relevant experience in the field of investigation and since I worked approximately six years in and around the Arabian peninsula, I gathered the information in the event that I might sometime apply for some work out there ... that is, depending on my health at the time.
However, as time passed, and as my health improved much slower than desired, I abandoned the possibility of doing work for such contracts. Additionally, as time passed, I became more and more suspicious as to why the US military seemed so much in a hurry to build such a high-tech military base in the area. I also wondered why they were doing such a project, especially since the US has very good relations with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain and Oman ... all in the same area. Iran didn’t seem to be a threat and Iraq was quiet, allowing the inspectors to do their work regarding nuclear weapons.
I became more and more suspicious, asking myself why. Why?
The answer became potentially clearer after September 11, 2004.
Was the fact that the US was building this military base part of the reason why September 11 happened?
Did the USA essentially instigate the September 11 attacks (by building such a high-tech military facility in the region)?
Or was it something else?
Was the USA building this high-tech military base because they already had their eye on the huge oil reserves in Iraq?
Why did the USA spend (billions of dollars) in building such a military base?
These questions cannot ever really be answered with certainty. They simply bring up the fact that the US government cannot be trusted and must be suspect to questioning and doubt.
Such suspicion was succinctly expressed recently by an Innu elder (Natives from north-eastern Canada and Greenland) as he spoke to an audience during a powwow with Latin American Native Leaders and Elders. Paraphrased, he expressed himself in the following way, “ When the white man arrived, we treated them with dignity and honesty ... and we believed them. But then they stabbed us in the back and tried to take everything away from us, our traditions, our culture, our hunting and fishing, our language ... and tried to destroy us, to kill us. The white man is a liar and cannot be trusted.”
But what does all this have to do with Venezuela?
Lots.
Venezuelans should not be fooled by the diplomatic double-talk coming from the US State Department, the US government or any other pro-USA organization or pro-USA “diplomat, expert, analyst or intellectual.” When I say pro-USA, I mean the pro-USA-interventionist-stick-their-nose-into-other-people’s-business-lie-to-them-rob-them-kill-them-and-take-everything-from-them connotation.
The USA invented a facade called “the war on drugs” and implemented Plan Colombia with the aid of Colombia and collaboration of Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. (Venezuela refused to join in ... and rightly so.) The USA has military installations in Colombia and probably in Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.
Is it possible that the USA is constructing a high-tech military control center in Colombia?
In Peru? In Bolivia or Ecuador?
I suspect that it is very possible and probable.
Right beside Colombia, we have Venezuela. Venezuela has lots and lots of oil and huge reserves ... perhaps more than Colombia. The US State Department has been bad-mouthing Chavez for the last four years ... just like they bad-mouthed Saddam Hussein for years previous to militarily and criminally invading Iraq with the support and collaboration from Iraq’s US-friendly neighbors: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and especially Qatar.
Even though Venezuela is experiencing perhaps the most democratic system in the history of the world (at least in such a large social scale), the US government, Human Rights Watch, the US State Department, and much of the US media continue to lambast Chavez and his Government.
Why are they doing this?
In preparation for what?
Why is the USA setting up military control centers and bases in neighboring Colombia?
Solely for their “war on drugs?”
I don’t trust the US government. Not for one minute. I do not trust those who so-willfully collaborate with the US government, with the US State Department, with the National Endowment for Democracy (an oxymoron), with the CIA and with the multitude of Washington-based organizations that claim to be working for the better interests of Latin Americans (while wholeheartedly supporting the implementation and promotion of the “Free Trade for the Americas” ... which would be disastrous to the well-being of 80% of Latin Americans while substantially increasing the wealth of the 20% minority).
I am also part Native American Indian ... and so are most of the Venezuelan majority, the 80% who have systematically been oppressed by the Venezuelan minority (the 20%).
Be careful Venezuela!
Note: According to several documents, the Venezuelan Native population was decimated by up to 90% by the Spaniards through slavery, slaughter and disease. The same (or similar) happened throughout the Americas between the early 1500s and the mid 1900s. The last residential schools in Canada were finally shut down in the early 1970s (only 30 years ago!).
These residential schools were filled with Indian youth who were often kidnapped from their teepees in the north and brought to the “south,” away from their families, to be stripped (by force) of their language, their culture and their dignity.
Most of these youth were physically and sexually abused throughout their several years spent at the hands of the “white man.”
This is no joke.

"A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm,"
co-authored by Perle
On July 8, 1996, Richard Perle, now the Chairman of the Defense Policy Board, an advisory group that reports to Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, presented a written document to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, spelling out a new Israeli foreign policy, calling for a repudiation of the Oslo Accords and the underlying concept of "land for peace"; for the permanent annexation of the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip; and for the elimination of the Saddam Hussein regime in Baghdad, as a first step towards overthrowing or destabilizing the governments of Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. The document was prepared for the Jerusalem and Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies (IASPS), a think tank financed by Richard Mellon-Scaife. The report, "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm," was co-authored by Perle; Douglas Feith, currently the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Policy; David Wurmser, currently special assistant to State Department chief arms control negotiator John Bolton; and Meyrav Wurmser, now director of Mideast Policy at the Hudson Institute.
