the rut kind of does its own thing. it the general trend will be the same as the nas, but using nas internals would be a mistake imo. i am not aware of specific internals for the russell. i like the option of having the rut as an extra short candidate to the ndx and i like to play the spread on ndx and rut. taht is when the 5 day performance opens up to 1.5% or more ill short the stud and go long the dud. or if i have long sectors i will jsut short the stud. rut has a 20% financial component which the ndx doesnt have any financials so if banking index is happy, the rut is likely to outperform the ndx.

thats a few ideas, but without a good set of internals i dont know what you could do as far as an excel model
