I haven't figured it out. I did have 100 shares of SRS put to me in that account Friday and if they had mentioned that it would make sense, in that at least a change in position had happened. Except that they were put to me so I am long (a short ETF) not short. So far they have not followed up and I'm still short the q's. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I hate uncertainty as much as the next guy, especially uncertainty about the internal workings of the brokerage.

I last sold the q's six days ago. In other cases where I have tried to short something and it was not available, IB did not allow the trade and pops up with the 'no shares available, but we're working on it' message. That's not what happened and I have a hard time believing the q's would be unshortable.
