SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jun 28, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
TASER(R)
International, Inc. (Nasdaq: TASR), a market leader in advanced non-lethal
weapons announced today that it received a large follow-on order of 265 TASER
X26 conducted energy weapons and accessories from the Dayton Police
Department. This recent order will supplement a deployment of 40 X26 units
earlier this year by Dayton Police. An order for 40 TASER X26 weapons and
accessories for the Dayton Airport Police Department was also received.
The total value of the purchase order is $436,000.
"Ohio is quickly becoming one of our largest states in terms of the number
of departments deploying TASER technology," said Tom Smith, President of TASER
International, Inc. "We continue to see the trend of large law enforcement
agencies in Ohio, and throughout the country, placing significant orders for
additional TASER conducted energy weapons to issue to their patrol level first
responders after successful results from an initial deployment to special
units such as S.W.A.T. and crisis intervention teams," continued Mr. Smith.
"It is encouraging to see an increasing presence of TASER technology in
law enforcement agencies assigned to airports, such as Dayton Airport Police,
in this era of ever heightened awareness and focus on Homeland Security,"
continued Smith.
"We are also very pleased to learn that TASER International Inc., is now
included as part of the Russel 3000 index as of the close of business on
June 25, 2004," added Mr. Smith. "It is orders, such as the one from Dayton
today, driven by our proven safety and success in the field, that has allowed
our company to develop the necessary market capitalization to be included on
such a prestigious and significant market index," concluded Mr. Smith.
