Take a look at TradeStation. It ain't free, but it is reliable, good fills, clean data as far as I can tell. Commissions are similar to IB's, but you pay for the platform, which is so advanced one needs to be a programmer to avail oneself of all it offers -- futures, options, equities, commodities, r-t charts with every indicator known to man, builtin trading strategies, automatic trading, create your own indicators and strategies with EasyLanguage, scanning, back-testing, many order types, and more. The most professional trading platform I have ever seen, and I don't understand half of what it can do yet (only had it about one year now).
