It's not because you are not seeing it that it might not be happening...we are just early in the cycle and by definition not many people see the trend yet...but IMO it is happening.

Until now we had the following major paradigms:
Mainframe, minicomputer, PC and client/server (database underlying technology)

Now we are transitioning to a web-based computing: legacy and new applications will be exposed as services and will easily integrate with each other through a Services oriented architecture with at its heart an e-business application platform.
