Well, I see my companies starting to think entirely differently regarding their IT departments and for example how applications are being deployed and build.

The monolithic applications, installed in the 90s, didn't talk with one another, there was no flexibility for the business to adapt to changing business processes. That's changing with web services and a new way of exposing legacy and new applications through SOA (service oriented architectures). That trend has barely started..

Let's take Telecom. Until now, SPs build a network for every application...weel that's changing too...now they want to put many services (legacy and new) on just one converged network. Again this trend is just starting...and will fundfamentally change the way video, TV, music is being consumed by the end user.
