I have to agree. Some expected some dramatic ending. But instead, they will let this wither away slowly. That way, it will also minimize potential investor backlash and potential lawsuits. If they put out a PR saying, "No sales were recorded. We are stopping operations entirely." This may cause some people to become outraged. Instead, keep people confused and uncertain. Slowly they will become desensitized and forget this scam and lose their motivation to initiate a lawsuit. Very clever from 2 guys who are skilled manipulators IMO.
