"One day voters are going to understand that the best way to deal with corruption in government is to term-limit representatives"
Hey, for once, we are in agreement. Democracy, what an idea! Today, congressional incumbents win about 95% of their reelection campaigns. Office becomes a birthright, even to the point that spouses and offspring have 'inherited' seats.
Many retiring congressmen have lamented that they were enthusiastic and optimistic as freshmen, and disillusioned and tired at the end. No doubt, some legislators might well be so meritorious that they truly deserve to survive a term limit, but there are plenty of avenues for them, such as run for a different office, serve in the executive branch, or find another avenue of public service. And there is nothing wrong for individuals to perform a term or two of public service and then return to the private, non-profit, or academic sector.
