Retail thought -- November is going to look terrible year over year for the broad retail numbers for an additional huge reason not many are talking about -- Thanksgiving falls 5 days later this year than last year! From Black Friday to the end of the month leaves only 3 days of Xmas shopping vs. last year we had 8 days of Xmas shopping.
Now the good news, IMO. December is going to blow away expectations because the Xmas shopping season is more compressed this year than last year as those typcial Xmas sales the week after Thanksgiving will be in the December numbers instead of November.
Just a thought. Analysts will adjust for this with their numbers, but the average guy hearing the numbers year over year for December may be "surprised." And having possibly half price gas vs. last year ain't gonna hurt much either.
