OT (Hey, it's Saturday)

Despite your search for and contemplation of the existence of God, it seems you have yet to find your answer.

I have read Anne Frank's diary (once as a child, and once as an adult), and in fact have visited her war-time "home" in Amsterdam on several occasions. I went to school with many Jewish children who escaped the Nazi extermination camps, but lost their families (most, like Anne Frank, were hidden away by or in non-Jewish families). Some later collapsed under the weight of their past, but many took the gift of life and made the most they could of it.

My point was twofold. Complacency produces nothing; it is through adversity that we grow. Often we feel abandoned by God, but whether or not one accepts His existence, the Condition of Man is such that we have the freedom, and the burden, of working out our problems on our own. Life (God?) presents the opportunity, but each person must chose the manner in which to grasp or reject it. You seem to have grasped it well -- perhaps an unconscious desire to "make up" for all those unable to dig themselves out of the hole.
