i remember the woolworths in my hometown. the original store was downtown on south main st.. in the late 50s and early 60s, they still had the wooden floors and the large standing fans to cool off the areas during the summer months.. the overwhelming smell was popcorn,.. the wood floors made their own sound as shoes trekked across them.....

i think they also had a lunch counter that had some some tastey inexpensive burgers, fries and cold sandwiches...they had the old fountains for coke and i think they also served soft drinks in those containers that had a paper cone insert... green rivers, cherry 77s and chocolate cokes were the drinks of choice by the kids...
