MattLoaf: Sticky suggestion:

I apologize if this has been suggested before this. It seems to me stickies should have a shelf life - a life span - either one set by the moderator at the time they add it and/or a default maximum - say 1 week. However, many times it may only need to be up for 1 day.

The value of the sticky is to grab attention. If there are always one or more there, you will tend to look past them defeating the purpose. When a new one shows up, you WILL read it. So, as a rule, not having them is preferable. If they don't have a life span, some boards will have them 24/7 forever - thus losing value.

Thus, the last thing you want out of a sticky note on IHub (or in real life) is that it is there indefinitely. It is supposed to be a reminder. That only works so long. If it expires after a week, the moderator has to make a conscious decision about whether or not he/she feels it is necessary to put it back up.

I love the feature and allowing a user to disable it will defeat the purpose of it. But, putting having the moderator put a shelf life of 1-7 days seems like a good compromise.
