Absent an agreement such as that you mention, the answer these quesstions about control will ultimately be settled in the courts.

My own conviction, for what it is worth, is that one advantage of the algeae fuels is that there seems to be more than one potentially viable method of harvest. I'm in favor of a plurality of producers, because that's good for the world's economy (competition) and for science (multiple research pathways produce synergistic results even if the companies are competing).

But can you say more about the idea of a binding agreement among players before the big breakthroughs? Why do you see this as imperative? Or at least useful to the industry? Is that to prevent lawsuits and the damage they can bring?
