Well IMO that's just wrong.
When I go to a board and want to see "information," I look in the ibox. If I find the information is inaccurate or just old, I ask to be added and I update the information from whatever resources I can find whether it's from pinksheets.com, filings, PRs, My student research library (has some great archived magazine/newspaper articles) etc.
Most of the "posts" on the boards are just chatter and opinions (which may or may not be true). It's up to me as a potential investor/trader to do my own research or at least verify whether the posted material is accurate or not.
As far as the penny boards go, there's many angles to them. There's the daytraders, the momo players, promoters, insiders, and investors - who IMO need to take the most amount of caution and do some extensive research before any long term investing is made because there's your pumpers that are either promoters, frontloader, and long term stuckholdes trying to get out and then there's the "true believe's." Not to mention the bashers which include the few that are good folks trying to protect others from getting scammed but the majority are usually angry people because they got screwed over on a deal, tryng to extort work, pissed at somone that's on that board, lost money in pinks and now hate them all, etc (IMO the "paid basher" if any would be the lowest % on that list unless they're looking to short).
So in the sense of "noise" posters, most all are for the above reasons indicated.
and excuse me if there's some typo's, my wireless keyboard needs new batteries, uggggh.
