I'll stand corrected by someone who has read a lot more HCV data than I. But my comment, written off the cuff based upon impressions obtained while reading the literature, is that although I have seen it before I don't remember it being standardized for a treatment that has such transient spike. (i.e. such a metric is only worthwhile as a comparison tool in such a treatment profile if part of the standard definition defines when viral load must be measured during the first week.) That said, perhaps my immediate dismisal of such a metric in reading the literature (for the reasons given above) distorted my perception of the literature.
