While, at first blush, the companies would appear competitors, they might offer complementary services in an alliance/partnership. Further, as members of the board serve to provide direction through review and approval of such items as budgets, compensation, and strategic design, it would not be ethical for the good general to be on boards of direct competitors.

We, the shareholders, might want to make the point that we would not be pleased about any conflict of interest. Further, we would view it as an ethical breach and grounds for legal action. So, if there are some of you so inclined (Walker, Five Years, docshazam, cabinfever), it is a question worth asking the company.

As for me, I have avoided direct communication with anyone in the company. I would hate for people to think that I used anything more than tea leaves to figure this thing out.
