The mention of Malaysia in the following excerpt rang a bell; Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dr Mahathir has been strongly encouraging his country’s oil exports be sold for euros instead of U.S. dollars. Iran's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Nasser Khaleqi said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to dispatch work force to Malaysia. At the meeting, Khaleqi underlined the need to expand economic and technical cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia. US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said during a visit to Singapore that he hoped to have US troops fighting terrorism in Southeast Asia "pretty soon". His comments fuelled speculation that the United States wants to deploy US forces in the Strait of Malacca, the narrow and busy shipping lane straddled by Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore that is seen as a likely terrorist target.

This is the same scene being played out all over the world, a switch or threatened switch to the euro away from the dollar and the entrance of U.S. troops or some other form of coercion .

Excerpt:
More and more oil exporters are talking openly about selling their commodity for euros instead of greenbacks. While Indonesia has only been considering it (2), Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dr Mahathir has been strongly encouraging his country’s oil industry to actually do it.
