Funny that this story finally made the crossing over the Atlantic… It went through the German newspapers a week ago and took a lot of space especially in the yellow press. The poor professor was interviewed more than a dozen times by the media, told everybody that the so called study was just a minor questioning, done by a group of students that asked about 100 people for their grilling habits.
But the story developed its own life. The more the professor told the people, that there was no scientific result at all, the more the fantasy of the journalists was stimulated.
The professor said she never made any statement about male archaic behavior in the interviews and if she had known the attention before, she would have given no permission to publish the paper because she fears that the reputation of her division is in danger.
As you can see the way news spread in Germany is not so different from other countries and I will not be surprised if her “work” will be at least rewarded with the Nobel price in sociology. (Has to be invented first). (vbg)
Nevertheless my hometown gets some hula in the world press, but I hope we will not be reduced to be the “Grilling Neanderthals”.
