Gale force major-market headwinds are not easy to surmount. Four out of five stocks trading in major markets closed red today. One man's loss is another's gain as bargains surface during the rout. With that said, a consumer-driven recession can hardly be denied. A few days ago, I walked unimpeded through a normally bustling and crowded department store. No waiting line at check-out, a rarity. Notwithstanding this last, local hospitals are doing very good business, even expanding their facilities. No evidence of recession there.
