K2, when bass spawn, the female uses her fins to scoop out an area on the bottom of the stream or lake, then lays her eggs in that "bed." The male then fertilizes the eggs and will take over guarding the nest (spawning bed) until the young bass hatch. He will usually then take a swipe through the young and eat some. Interesting evolutionary thing. Population control?
