Well you're going deep on me DB1, but I follow your drift generally. Kudos on the profits.

Yes, good dividend payers who are stable are certainly attractive at these levels.

While some progress has been made over the weekend in Europe on stabilizing the financial institutions there, and the U.S.A. may follow somewhat similarly, the next shoes to drop are the earnings coming out this week, and the fall of consumer buying and confidence/sentiment, as well as the little discussed matter of credit card defaults when more people lose jobs and homes going into 2009.

Silver, if those stories of the two U.S. banks that had large short positions that are now purportedly gone (along with hedge fund and other funds sell offs to raise cash last week), precipitating the high percentage drops of late, seems to be trading like the penny stocks, being scalped on the smallest of moves currently.
