"I would like to know about this buy out?" It's well documented on the companies' web sites, with links to the S. E. C. filings. The likely timing of the takeover (which the companies have described only as "by the end of 2008") I have found only on the Seeking Alpha web site (link to latest article follows):
"Is it too late to invest in LEV?" Probably not, but I make no recommendations. (I acquired most of my stock well south of $2.) It will partly depend on where LEVP trades Monday: The opportunity will exist only if the market continues to be as disinterested in this transaction as it has been to date. VPHM is now trading a little below the bottom of the collar ($10.03), so the entire 50 cents worth of VPHM stock may well not be realized by LEVP shareholders. Details on the collar can be found by reading the actual agreement.
The gains from this point forward on LEVP should be small, but very quick and certain. The potential for the two 50 cent kickers is problematic.
