An interesting precept of marketing is that if you are the market leader, you never metion competitors by name. A good example of this is to watch Duracell or Tide or Crest or Cisco or Dell or Coke commercials.

When competitors start getting mentioned, it usually means that they are a serious enough threat to be addressed head on. The fact that Dell, an all Intel shop, is mentioning Opteron means that their business is being impacted. If it weren't, they would have avoided the reference altogether.

The real question is will Intel deliver iAMD64 on time, so Dell will stay all Intel?
