The K8L is a weak core inferior to NGMA let alone Nehalem. Worse yet AMD has no new uarch far along in its development pipeline because it is busy papering over an otherwise empty roadmap with MPUs with ever higher counts of the inferior K8L core.

NGMA = Nehalem and K8L does fine with the same amount of cache which it will get with Shanghai/Deneb.
