My guess is that Gabe thought he could swoop in, buy the company out, find some capital, and get the show on the road again, eventually turning a nice profit. I think his heart was in it.

I think it fell apart when he realized the ongoing investigation was taking longer than he thought, and when he couldn't convince anyone with deep pockets to invest in the company (who would after reviewing the stats?) Meanwhile the pps plummeted and nosedived into the bottomless pit it is in now. I think he saw the situation as hopeless, picked up his marbles, and went on with his life, never to look back.

Oh, he glances over his shoulder now and then, I'm sure, but I think he has gotten over it and has moved on. There won't be any closure because he has no motivation to satisfy our need for closure.

Most of us linger just to vent now and then, IMO. It's also interesting to see some newbies come along with sincere optimism that somehow this company will resurrect itself. Sad, but interesting.
