I am not assuming anything Joe, I was just suggesting that there could be more than one reason for increased credit card usage.

I also am not real sure how the credit card debt is calculated. Is it based on the actual amounts that are being charged interest and/or carried from month to month or is it based on how much is owed to the card companies? Using my own case, my monthly credit card bill has gone up 20 fold in the past 5 years due to the reasons I stated previously plus inflation. So is the amount of my monthly bill calculated into "the average amount of credit card debt in households" even though it is paid in full every month?
