Wow! Lou Dobbs just said something that at least at first blush seems to make incredibly good sense. A totally opposite approach to all this.
He suggests that we should give the $700billion to the people who can't make their mortgage payments!(it would probably be a helluva lot less than that too if done this way imo)
It seems like it solves all problems instantaneously. The mortages get paid and foreclosures stop instantly, the banks get their money and don't need to be bailed out, housing prices stop crashing, the financial wheels get greased, and life goes on!
And the money goes from the people TO the people, not to wallstreet with the hopes that they'll make everything ok again. I know I'd much rather fork over my money to a friend who needs it than a wallstreet tycoon...especially that now I'd know FOR CERTAIN that his mortgage will be paid!
Am I missing something here?
