Intel To Release Open-Source Code for BIOS

We've heard of this technology before, but this gives a few more details that suggest a pretty groud-breaking improvement.

Another benefit is that the new code and Tiano will speed the boot-up process. In servers, Tiano-based machines boot up in about one-third the time required by servers equipped with traditional BIOS programs, Intel claims. American Megatrends and Insyde Software sell boot-up software based on Tiano.
