Alan, I do believe it is in Intels best interest to move people from the 5xx series to the 7xx series anyway.

My impression was that Intel was going to make the 500-series the "mainstream" line, while the 700-series is reserved for customers who can spend more. I got this impression from the desktop line, where the ultra-expensive "Extreme Edition" processors are being put in the 700-series, while the bread-n-butter Pentiums are 500-series.

If in the mobile market Intel moves the majority to the 700-series, that will necessarily collapse the pricing of that market segment, and Intel will not have any room for premium "Extreme Edition" mobile products (unless they invent a "900-series"). My guess is that Intel is moving mobile customers into the 700-series prematurely, all because Intel's actual technology portfolio doesn't exactly line up with their three-tiered model number scheme.
