Most laptops have a wifi card installed these days and if you're like me you need access wherever you travel. So depending if the hotel's wi-fi is free or not, or if I can access a hot spot through my national coverage, I sometimes need to purchase access. Unfortunately, I have my doubts about this at&t/reelcash promotion.

When I was in Vegas last January for CES and then NATPE, I bought internet access right from my room. I never stepped foot into the business center. Frankly, I only go to the business center of hotels if I have a fax to send or pick up, so I hope this REELCASH AT&T promotion isn't dependent solely upon business travelers going into the business center. If it is, partner TruBlu better be doing some promotion about it and there'd better be a BIG dynamite POS display advertising the offer (if so, can we PLEASE see a picture of what that looks like?)! Reelcash competes directly with a hotel's potential revenue from room movie rentals, so I can't see many hotels promoting the offer.

FWIW, the wi-fi service I purchased in Vegas gave me access all up and down the Vegas Strip. The offer was promoted on the hotel's wi-fi network page (the only page I could access until I paid) when I searched for wireless networks available in my room. It suited my needs perfectly because I needed to demonstrate Reeltime on the convention room floor in addition to working and doing email in my hotel room at night, so I purchased the service from a company called Cheetah Wireless: http://www.cwti.us/cheeweb/homepage/index.asp

So how are other business travelers different from me? Does anyone here on this board go down to the business center first before checking the wi-fi connection in their room?

Still Parkwest, I'm waiting anxiously for when you go back to Vegas in Oct to see if the promotion is available.
