Yes. Palin was elected Mayor of Wasilla in 1996. As mayor of Wasilla, Palin oversaw the hiring of Robertson, Monagle & Eastaugh, an Anchorage-based law firm with close ties to Alaska's Rep Don Young and Sen Ted Stevens. The Wasilla account was handled by former chief of staff to Ted Stevens, Steven W. Silver, a partner in the firm.
In fiscal 2000, Walissa received a $1million earmark.
In 2001 Palin and Wasilla City Councel increased Silver's fee from $24,000 to $36,000/yr.
In fiscal 2002 Wasilla received $6.1million in earmarks.
All told, Wasilla received $26.9 in earmarks in Palin's final 4yrs in office.
