Poll says Bush more 'honest'
By AP

WASHINGTON -- After three months and millions of dollars in negative ads, a new poll says more Americans use the word "honest" to describe President George W. Bush than Democrat candidate John Kerry. The poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press released yesterday found that 9% chose "honest" to describe Bush in its May survey.

No one used the word 'honest' to describe Kerry.

The question asked was: "What one word best describes your impression" of Bush or Kerry?

In its February survey, 11% used "honest" to describe Bush while 18% used the word to describe Kerry.

The word remains the most cited for the president even as "incompetent" has gained ground.

The president, described by 4% as "incompetent" in February, was tagged with that word by 8% in May.

He was judged "honest," good" or "leader" by 26% in the new poll.
