GM and Detroit in general doesn't get it. They don't really want to innovate. They want to keep making the same cars and trucks they've made for the past 30 years.

Electric and Hybrids will really shine when one of the foreign car makers enters the market with a reliable affordable vehicle.

$40K, pfft, if it were $20K you'd have tons of interest. $40K is just to high of a price point for people to consider a 2nd car. If you price this lower, I firmly believe many people would be able to afford one as a second driver...
