Dr. Cox’s closing statement on yesterday’s CC was rather different from the way Cox has wrapped up prior CC’s. Is this significant? You be the judge.

Here are a few excerpts:

“We expect to be able to discuss our third quarter 2008 results in November.”

Why does he hedge rather than simply stating that the 3Q08 CC will take place in November? Maybe it’s just a manner of speaking.

“Of course we live in challenging times and we recognize that, but we are very confident of our ability to be able to come through in SOME style.” [emphasis added]

I’ve heard Dr. Cox give dozens of presentations and CC’s but I can’t recall his using a similar construction.
