Thanks for the response, but a little off the question, was not talking so much about WHAT energy source COULD replace oil, was talking more about what shockwave, IF ANY, would there be IF oil was basically rendered useless in its current context as far as dependency?

And IF during the completion of the process or before final completion, S.A. or other oil rich countries got wind of this, they could effectivley knock us back into the stone age by shutting off exports to the US or in a sense blackmailing us into NOT trying to find a way out from under their control.

Thats why I said by some FLUKE, something that just happended or someone stumbled onto it. Just wake up one day and BAM, it works and their is no need to test, experiment, etc. It just fricking WORKS and here is the ole 1 finger salute to all those oil countries that yanked us around over and over and over to let US know how the cow ate the cabbage.....
