China and Cuba confirm willingness to develop relations
Remember after Castro’s death whoever gets to Cuba first wins.
Near Haiti close to Santiago in the eastern end of Cuba the Chinese already operate one of two listening posts on the island.
He did not mince his words, arguing that the United States must be prepared to intervene within hours of Castro's death to prevent his compinches — his accomplices — from cementing their hold on power. #msg-2991903
China has made economic moves in Peru, Brazil, and Venezuela and has control of the Panama Canal.
So, the Chinese quietly continue to move in our region. They could wind up with a massive "turn key" listening station. It is a story that gets little notice in mainstream American media. I am sure the Chinese want to keep it that way and most Americans could care less, for now.
Every time I see the Chinese threaten to invade The Republic of China (Taiwan), I wonder how things will line up in the Caribbean when we go to the aide of our long-time allies. It is then that Americans will care about the Chinese in our back yard. #msg-2488765
And China’s best buddy, Brazil, is expected to take up the job as leader of the new peacekeeping force in Haiti. However, I cannot say if that is relevant in the Cuba matter. http://english.epochtimes.com/news/4-5-3/21246.html

China and Cuba confirm willingness to develop relations
Havana. May 19, 2004
BY ARNALDO MUSA—Granma daily staff writer—
CHINESE and Cuban leaders have already indicated that much work must be done to specify and develop existing relations, and that was made clear during the meeting with President Fidel Castro, commented Wang Jiarui, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of its International Department, in discussions with Cuban government leaders.
Upon being received by Vice President Carlos Lage, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, the Chinese leader was informed of the current state of the Cuban revolutionary process, the most recent measures by George W. Bush’s fascist government, and the massive March of the Combative People last Friday in response to the new aggressions against Cuba.
Later, Wang Jiarui expressed during a meeting with Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque that the Chinese party, government and people support the just struggle by Cubans for independence, self-determination and the defense of their dignity in face of foreign intervention.
Pérez Roque highlighted the importance of Wang’s visit to Cuba, qualified as exemplary the links between the two countries and recalled numerous demonstrations of China’s friendship and solidarity with Cuba.
