All the reports and stock ANALysts seem to be very positive on Rember and for good reason BUT let's review the FACTS.
"...In the latest study, 321 patients received one of three doses of Rember or a placebo capsule three times daily. The capsules containing the highest dose had a flaw in formulation that prevented them from working, while the lowest dose was too weak to prevent worsening of the disease, Wischik told the AP...."

So the reporters and the stock ANALysts liked the REMBER results even though only the middle dose appeared to work BUT the reporters and the stock ANALysts did NOT like bapineuzumab Phase II results becaause the results did not seem to increase with increasing dose. PLUS the results for bapineuzumab for non-!POE4 carriers was OUTSTANDING at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg (one of the middle doses that had the safest results) and that the results for APOE4 carriers was VERY GOOD at a dose of 0.15 mg/kg (the lowest dosein the phase II trial). Have the reporters or ANALysts ever heard of a "U" shaped doseresponse where patients respond best to a middle dose rather than a low dose or a high dose" http://toxsci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/62/2/330
Look at slide 17 at the following link at a dose level of 0.5 mg/kg for non-APOE4 carriers who completed 6 treatments over 18 months and look at slide 15 at a dose level of 0.15 mg/kg for APOE4 carriers who completed 6 treatments over 18 months. These results are GREAT!!! It shows that Elan's bapineuzumab did not just slow the progression of Alzheimer's for this group but they actually improved over the 18 months.

Even for aspirin for headaches 1 aspirin may not give the desired releaf but X aspirins may not be safe.
Rember sounds like potentially a blockbuster drug that may someday be used in combination with bapineuzumab but bapineuzumab is farther along in trails and should get to marset quicker.
Good luck and God bless,
George
