ola : It sounds like you have a very interestng ( as well as usable ) conversation piece. I remember my mom heating up a pot of water every few months and going through the same process. It usually was done when the ice trays became impossible to remove without chipping them out. Every once in a while it would work out to my advantage, because there would be half of a carton of ice cream that I would have to 'dispose of'.
If it ever does 'play out' and you don't keep it for a decoration , just remember that the doors off those babies make the world's best sleds.
