Thanks for the screenshots. I'm tempted to try a WAG on what that might become.
It certainly is a heavy/strong item and that leads me to think a winch of some sort. The last two pics show what look like articulating arms with "ears" on the end of the arm in the very last pic. Looks like the ears on the arm would fit a sheave about 14" diameter, with a bearing for articulation on the opposite end.
Might be an abandon/retrieval winch with heave compensation via a single or double sheave on an articulating arm (or small A-frame) similar to a mini-LARS.
