This makes too much sense for our corrupt politicians. It's too easy. They thrive on mounds of crooked legislation padded with under-the-table and on-top-of-the-table payoffs from companies only concerned with the "here and now" of their wealth, just as 99% of the politicians are. Problem for them is, when gas hits $6-$8, all hell breaks loose in this country in terms of jobs, bankruptcies, and potential revolt. The fact that our leaders have been so selfish to let it get to this point is worse than pathetic. They should all be hung and replaced. To hope that the same morons who support and expand the IRS every year instead of a simple consumption tax will get on top of the energy crisis is probably wishful thinking. Someone better get some "you-know-whats" and use them pretty soon, or the USA is going to be knocked down toward 3rd-world status a few levels, rather than bringing up the rest of the world -- which is what SHOULD have been happening for the past 30 years. Only greed has prevented it.
