Education Networks of America Selects WARP's DataReactor Software to Accelerate Web-Based Content and Manage Traffic Volume
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2004--
Caching Software Provides Flexible Solution to Improve the Delivery of Content, Curriculum and Courses to its Growing Educational Customer Base
WARP Technology Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:WRPT), a leading provider of network and application acceleration software, today announced that Education Networks of America (ENA) has selected WARP's DataReactor product to improve the speed and performance of Web-based content, curriculum, and courses delivered over their network. ENA's network infrastructure serves 250,000 computers in 1,900 locations, and reaches nearly 1,000,000 students and 60,000 teachers.
ENA provides a range of technology solutions for complex enterprises including government agencies, school systems, libraries, and commercial customers. The company established its reputation as an expert in the design, deployment and operation of broadly dispersed education networks. It also manages one of the largest privatized K-12 education networks in the U.S.
To serve its educational customers better, ENA implemented DataReactor across its technology infrastructure, which spans three hubs and 150-plus edge nodes. Using DataReactor, the hubs and nodes are configured with "parent and child" relationships, making it extremely easy to deliver and pre-position all types of Web-based content.
"Unlike our previous caching solution, DataReactor gives us the flexibility to dynamically deliver content across our network," explained Bob Collie, Chief Technology Officer at ENA. "As a result, we can move capacity around our network in order to better service the needs of our educational customers."
With DataReactor, ENA has been able to dramatically reduce the processing load on its origin servers by eliminating request duplications. As a result, content requests are delivered faster, making the user experience more productive, especially with Web-based curriculum and courses. The software also enables ENA to scale their network operations and manage traffic spikes more effectively, without the need to add more servers and other IT infrastructure.
"By deploying the DataReactor software, ENA is providing their government and educational customers with the capability to expand their Web-based content and online curriculum," explained Michael Liss, WARP's Chief Operating Officer. "As a result, they can increase the depth and extent of their offerings, and improve the overall educational experience."
ENA is also using DataReactor to filter specific types of content delivered to schools, in order to comply with state laws. The software offers customizable settings to ensure that only appropriate content can be accessed and delivered. Anticipating the growing needs of its customers, ENA plans to expand the use of DataReactor and deploy an enterprise content delivery network (eCDN) in the near future.
