Putnam receives SEC subpoenas

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Putnam Investments has received subpoenas from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Philadelphia office seeking documents and information tied to its directed brokerage and trading practices. Putnam, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., disclosed the information Monday in a regulatory filing. It also received a request for information from the SEC's Chicago office and the NASD regarding revenue-sharing arrangements, the filing said. Boston-based Putnam is "fully cooperating" with regulatory authorities, according to the filing. Shares of Marsh & McLennan (MMC: news, chart, profile) fell 8 cents to $43.78 in recent trading.
