With regard to your impression about the Belief essay that I was "rolling along and then the telephone rang.", I wonder if that is because you thought I might provide answers for the issues I raised. I wish I were that smart ... then, I'd be able to walk on water! Incidentally, I think the telephone analogy was superb. It's SO descriptive.

I agree that my proposed solution to the problem of corporate size is naive, but I'm sorry it turns you off. You don't say whether you agree that corporate size is a problem, but I gather that you don't see it that way. You spoke of the '40s in one of your posts. I wonder if you remember the discussions that were prevalent then about the dangers of unrestricted corporate growth. The topic was debated extensively in Congress, and resulted in something called an "excess profits tax", I believe. It wasn't a good answer, but that's the way politics works.
