Freep, No, no duration is mandatory. It is just a change of direction, from where we have been previously, higher or lower, than the previous day. For instance, the last "Change of Direction Point" was April 15th, the markets closed down on the 14th, but on the 15th the SPX closed up (even though the DJIA didn't), thus the direction changed and the SPX closed up for three days.
Historically, 95% of the "Change of Direction Points" have been Momentum highs and 5% Momentum lows and the markets change direction, for a few days.
