Russell 2000 adds 37 technology stocks

Russell 2000 adds 37 technology stocks, 24 stocks in sector removed from index

NEW YORK (AP) -- Thirty-seven stocks in the technology sector were added to the Russell 2000 in this year's reconstitution of the small stock index, while 24 in the sector were removed.
Advanced Battery Technologies Inc., American Software Inc., Bookham Inc., Callidus Software Inc., Ceva Inc., China Fire & Security Group Inc., China Security and Surveillance Technology Inc., China Information Security Technology Inc., Coherent Inc., DemandTec Inc., Digimarc Corp., Ebix Inc., Ener1 Inc., Entrust Inc., Globecomm Systems Inc., Hackett Group Inc., Herley Industries Inc., Kopin Corp., LaBarge Inc., Maxwell Technologies Inc., Microvision Inc., NCI Inc., NVE Corp., NetScout Systems Inc., Opnet Technologies Inc., PCTEL Inc., Phoenix Technologies Ltd., Power Integrations Inc., SupportSoft Inc., TeleCommunication Systems Inc., Terrestar Corp., Transmeta Corp. and Website Pros Inc. were added to the Russell 2000.

Acxiom Corp., Riverbed Technology Inc., Sanmina-SCI Corp. and Verifone Holdings Inc. moved to the small-stock Russell 2000 from the Russell 1000 index of large stocks.

Acacia Research Corp., Applied Energetics Inc., Arrowhead Research Corp., Borland Software Corp., Conexant Systems Inc., Ditech Networks Inc., Imergent Inc., Innovative Solutions & Support Inc., Lionbridge Technologies Inc., LivePerson Inc., Network Equipment Technologies Inc., On2 Technologies Inc., Openwave Systems Inc., PDF Solutions Inc., Silicon Graphics Inc. SourceForge Inc., Syntax Brillian Corp. and Veraz Networks Inc. were removed from the Russell 2000.

Ansys Inc., Equinix Inc., Flir Systems Inc., Nuance Communications Inc., On Semiconductor Corp. and SAIC Inc. were moved up to the Russell 1000 and removed from the Russell 2000.

Tacoma, Wash.-based Russell Investments realigns the Russell 3000 index once per year, tracking what it maintains is 99 percent of the U.S. equity market. That index is then broken down into 26 smaller indexes, including the widely watched Russell 1000 index of large capitalization stocks and the Russell 2000 index of small capitalization stocks.

The makeup of the Russell indexes for the next 12 months was finalized after the closing bell Friday.
